SJSU E-Portfolio

Introductory Statement

This e-portfolio was originally created within the Angel course management system e-portfolio. This represents the culminating project for my Masters of Library and Information Science at the San Jose State University’s School of Library and Information Science. I have chosen the e-portfolio option as my final project for my Masters so that I could express the scope of inter-disciplinary work that encompasses Library Information Science. I began the program in Fall of 2008 and have worked steadily each semester learning more and more. I chose the Master’s in Library and Information Science for many reasons but essentially I believe that the standards and guidelines that librarians follow are necessary to know and put into practice in today’s information world. While being knowledgeable about technology is important it is not just knowing the technology but knowing how to learn, adapt, and think creatively. That is why I chose the Master’s program at San Jose State University SLIS. I knew that I wanted to become an information professional and assist the world on my terms. The lessons and skills I have learned at SLIS have been instrumental in my own professional success. SLIS has pushed me to be a better person in my work as well as pursuing excellence in providing service that is fair, accessible, and helpful.
