A man sat, hunched over in the median strip of a two-lane highway. The grass brushed against his legs as he stared into the distance. He clutched his cellphone, waiting for a response. His car sat inert pointed the wrong way in the ditch. His phone lit up and vibrated as a text message announced, a tow truck was minutes away from arriving.
The burly truck driver parked with his emergency lights on, blocking a portion of the road. He descended from the cabin and started trudging through the grass. “Finally, you’re here to help?" the stranded man exclaimed. The truck driver, responded “How did you get into this mess?" The stranded man blinked and did not answer. The tow truck driver continued, “You’re driving this?" pointing at the wayward vehicle. “What were you thinking? This car is a piece of junk!" The stranded man sulked, his face contorting for an instant as he contemplated how to reply. “Can you help me out of this ditch?" The tow truck driver continued to spew new observations and interpretations about the situation. The stranded man began flicking his phone in search of a number to dial.
